Number ranges
Every outgoing interchange and every message inside it carries a sequential reference number. The partner’s acknowledgement is matched to the right exchange through these numbers – which is why no number may be issued twice.
What is this for?
- Maintain sequential references per tenant and partner.
- Keep separate counters for the interchange and the individual message.
- Rule out duplicate numbers even when several jobs run at the same time.

How to set it up
- There are two counters per tenant and partner: one for the interchange and one for the message.
- On dispatch the next value is drawn; increment and read happen in one transaction.
- This is not a side detail: without that bracket, timer jobs running in parallel in the NCS-Webservice would issue the same number.
- The last value issued can be inspected – useful when a partner queries a specific reference.
