Hot folders

The hot folder is the directory through which files are exchanged with a partner. Every partner has their own, with four fixed subfolders – so you can always tell where a file currently stands.

What is this for?

  • Keep incoming and outgoing files separate per partner.
  • See from the location whether a file was processed or failed.
  • Retain failed files together with their findings.

Hot folders

How to set it up

  1. Below the base path of the partner there are four subfolders:
  2. in\ – incoming files, filled by the transport.
  3. out\ – outgoing files, collected by the transport.
  4. processed\ – processed successfully, with a timestamp in the file name.
  5. error\ – failed, accompanied by a file holding the findings.
  6. A file is only touched once it can be opened exclusively – that is, once writing has finished.
  7. Processing moves rather than copies: a file only ever exists in one place. In the target it carries the timestamp and journal ID in its name.
